Lucien Marie Le Gardien (French, 1908-1978). Oil on canvas depicting a rustic interior scene with a figure tending a fire in a large hearth. The work is characterized by heavy impasto and a tonalist color palette. It is signed in the lower left corner. Sight: 17 x 21 in. Framed: 29 x 32 in.

Condition report:
The paint surface exhibits widespread and prominent craquelure throughout. There is a visible circular surface defect or indentation located on the left side of the composition. Minor surface grime is present. The frame shows light shelf wear and small areas of gilding loss consistent with age.
