Description
An original watercolor painting on paper by John G. Ernst. The work depicts a stylized Southwestern landscape featuring a range of jagged black mountain peaks beneath three blue clouds containing dark, hook-like motifs. The foreground includes two stylized birds, two blue cacti with white dotting, and a prominent red zigzag line. A row of green geometric square-and-dot symbols runs along the bottom edge of the composition. The artwork is signed JOHN G. ERNST in the lower right corner. Condition report:
The paper shows evidence of overall toning and scattered light foxing. There is a faint water stain visible on the right side of the sheet near the bird motif. The frame exhibits minor surface wear and small scuffs. The brown paper backing on the verso is torn at the top, exposing the mounting.
