Description
Thomas Hoyne (American, 1924-1989). Oil on canvas, First and Saucy, 1982. The work depicts the knockabout schooner Helen B. Thomas under full sail in turbulent seas, with a secondary vessel and gulls in the background. Signed Tom Hoyne and dated 1982 in the lower left corner. The verso features a printed exhibition announcement from the Independence Seaport Museum for the 2005 exhibition Fishing on the Grand Banks: The Marine Art of Thomas Hoyne, and a typed yellow paper label providing historical details of the vessel and artist. Sight: 22 x 28 in. Frame: 28 1/2 x 34 1/2 in.

Condition report:
The canvas is in good condition with no visible tears, punctures, or paint loss. Minor surface dust is present. The frame shows light wear to the metallic finish along the edges and corners. All attachments on the verso, including the metal clips and labels, are secure.
