Description
Assortment of commemorative materials and original photography from JawsFest 05, the 30th-anniversary celebration of the film Jaws held on Martha’s Vineyard in June 2005. The group includes a JawsFest 05 Collector’s Book published by the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce, featuring biographies of cast and crew members, and an 8-page Jaws Fest Guide published by The Martha’s Vineyard Times. Also present are 3 cardstock JawsFest 05 Trivia Hunt sheets featuring 30 questions and a sightseeing tour advertisement. The photography comprises 39 4×6 inch color prints documenting event ceremonies, panels, beach bonfires, and displays including the Orca and the Ben Gardner prosthetic head prop. Many photographs capture Peter Benchley, Carl Gottlieb, Joe Alves, and other production principals. Largest: 14 x 4 1/4 in.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The items are in good to very good commemorative condition. The newsprint guide exhibits typical light toning and age-related yellowing at the edges. The trivia sheets and collector\'s book remain crisp with minimal signs of handling. The photographic prints are clear with vibrant color and show no evidence of creasing, silvering, or fading.
