Description
Nathaniel Benchley (American, 1915-1981). Oil on canvas, autumn landscape. Unsigned. The work is housed in a simple gilt wood frame with a narrow profile. Frame: 10 3/4" H x 14 7/8" W x 1 1/4" D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The painting is in overall good condition. The gilt wood frame exhibits minor surface abrasions and small losses to the finish along the edges and at the corners. The verso shows standard age-related wear to the wooden stretcher and hanging wire.
