Description
Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006). Two Japanese language pocket-sized softcover novels including Beast and The Girl of the Sea of Cortez. The volume titled Umi to Shoujo (The Girl of the Sea of Cortez) is a tankobon format edition published by Shobunsha as part of the Young Adult Y.A Library series. It is bound in pictorial wrappers and includes the original yellow publisher’s promotional band. The second volume, Biisuto (Beast), is a bunko format edition published by Kadokawa Shoten for the Kadokawa Horror Bunko series and retains its original illustrated dust jacket. 6″ H x 4 1/4″ W x 3/4″ D and 5 7/8″ H x 4 3/4″ W x 3/4″ D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Very Good. Original illustrated dust jackets are present for both volumes and are well-preserved. The Girl of the Sea of Cortez retains the original publisher\'s band. There is light shelf wear to the jacket edges and minor age-related toning to the internal page margins.
