Description
Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006). A commemorative award plaque presented by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation to Benchley for the Best Article Adventure Travel 2003. The award recognizes his article titled Elegant Danger, which was published in National Geographic Traveler. Marked on the verso Michelson’s. 10 1/2″ H x 13″ W x 3/4″ D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The metal plate exhibits several light surface scratches, including a distinct diagonal scratch located between the central text and the caricature portrait. The wooden border shows a vertical scratch near the lower right corner along with a small chip in the finish at the bottom right corner. The reverse displays numerous surface scuffs and scratches across the wood finish, with visible wear to the mounting keyholes and the maker\'s label.
