Description
Chromogenic print documenting a deep-sea interaction between a large shark and a research submersible. The shark is shown biting a specimen cage attached to the vessel, with the animal and the ocean floor illuminated by the craft floodlights. The work is mounted under glass in a black metal frame. Unsigned. Frame: 14 1/4 x 20 1/4 x 1 in.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The print shows minor color shifting and light fading consistent with age. There are small surface abrasions and light scratches to the black metal frame. A light layer of dust is present under the glass. No creases, tears, or staining are visible.
