Description
Promotional offset lithograph poster for the television special Beneath the Sea—The Galapagos, produced by American Adventure Productions, Inc. for Mutual of Omaha. The work features a central underwater photograph depicting Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006) as a diver in silhouette against the sun, surrounded by a large school of fish and a shark. Below the image, the title Deep Admiration is printed in stylized blue script. The lower margin includes a promotional text block identifying the program, author Peter Benchley, executive producer John Wilcox, and the broadcast details for ABC Television. A printed logo in the lower right corner reads Mutual of Omaha’s Spirit of Adventure, featuring a compass design with a Native American profile in a feathered headdress. Condition report:
The poster exhibits several horizontal creases across the center consistent with prior rolling or folding. Surface scuffs and small white abrasions are visible in the darker areas of the underwater photograph, particularly near the central shark and the fish along the left edge. The corners and edges show light handling wear and minor curling. The verso shows light age-related discoloration and faint foxing.
