Description
Chromogenic print, male diver with Hookah breathing apparatus. Two labels are affixed to the print surface: a printed card with red and black text titled Notice the Diving Equipment explaining the use of compressors over SCUBA tanks, and a handwritten label in blue ink reading Part of Case 17. Unsigned. Frame: 20 7/8 x 13 3/4 x 5/8 in.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Significant color shift is present throughout the emulsion toward cyan and yellow-green hues. Small spots of pitting and minor emulsion loss are visible on the print surface. The glass shows light scuffing and faint surface scratches. The black-painted wooden frame exhibits moderate wear, including scuffs and small chips to the paint at the corners and edges. The verso has several strips of aged, yellowed adhesive tape and associated staining to the brown paper backing.
