Description
Two maritime reference books including works by Mendel Peterson (American, 1918-2003) and Jacques-Yves Cousteau (French, 1910-1997). The first volume is The Funnel of Gold, published by Little, Brown and Company in 1975, and is a stated first edition. The second volume is Octopus and Squid: The Soft Intelligence, co-authored by Philippe Diolé (French, 1908-1977) and published by Doubleday & Company, Inc. in 1973. This volume is a stated first edition in the United States. The Cousteau volume is a cloth-bound hardcover with a yellow pictorial dust jacket and contains 124 color photographs detailing marine biological discoveries. Marked with reference notations. Largest copy: 10 1/2" H x 7 3/4" W x 7/8" D.

Condition report:
The Funnel of Gold dust jacket is in poor to fair condition, exhibiting significant tearing, loss at the spine tips, edge chipping, and surface staining. The book itself shows shelf wear and light toning to the pages. The interior contains extensive marginalia and underlining in blue ink. Octopus and Squid remains in good condition, with its dust jacket showing minor bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges. The binding for both volumes is tight.
