Description
Two souvenir items featuring shark motifs. The first is a decorative Christmas ornament fashioned from painted resin with a glossy finish, depicting a gray shark positioned through a red and white life preserver ring. The second item is a promotional sun visor constructed of light blue flexible foam featuring a white plastic snap-button closure. The graphic includes the text JAWS CHARTERS and a toll-free phone number printed in red. Ornament: 2 1/2" H x 5 1/2" L x 2 1/4" W. Visor: 6 1/2" H x 11" W with 5" band.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit signs of age and handling. The resin ornament shows small paint losses, most notably a white scuff on the red section of the life preserver. The foam visor displays a distinct yellowish-brown circular stain on the left side of the brim and general light surface soiling throughout.
