Description
Group of four fossilized shark teeth including Otodus megalodon. This group includes a single large Megalodon tooth and three smaller prehistoric shark teeth recovered from a Bermuda shipwreck site. The primary Megalodon tooth is defined by a broad triangular blade with dark gray enamel and visible serrations along the margins. The smaller teeth exhibit varying colors, including one tan and two dark gray examples. Each specimen displays the dense mineralized structure characteristic of fossilized elasmobranch dental remains. 3" H x 2" W x 1/2" D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The primary Megalodon specimen exhibits significant loss to one side of the root structure and minor chipping to the tip and serrated edges. The additional smaller teeth show various degrees of wear and root damage, including partial to major loss of the root lobes and worn enamel margins.
