The Gentleman's Collection
Lot 106:
Description
Mission style drop leaf side table constructed of quarter sawn oak with a medium toned finish. The three part top features a fixed center section flanked by two drop leaves with rule joints and clipped corners, showcasing prominent medullary rays in the wood grain. The base employs a gate leg design where the central fixed frame and two swinging gate legs each feature a four slat spindle design beneath a straight apron. The square legs are joined at the bottom by arched stretchers and utilize visible decorative wood peg joinery. The adjustable width allows the piece to transition from a narrow rectangular form to a larger nearly square surface. Unsigned. 31″ W x 26 1/2″ D x 26″ H (Open). 14″ W x 26 1/2″ D x 26″ H (Closed).
Condition report:
The table is in good overall condition. There are minor surface scuffs and light scratches visible on the tabletop and lower stretchers. The rule joints are intact and functional. The gate leg hinges show light oxidation but operate smoothly. Small floor protector pads are attached to the underside of the feet.
