Description
An assortment of four fishing rods and two reels spanning vintage and modern eras. The first is a Pflueger Trion GX IM-6 graphite spinning rod paired with a matching Pflueger Trion GX reel. The rod features a dark brown blank with red and gold thread wraps and a cork handle. The second is a vintage heavyweight saltwater rod constructed of a dark-toned fiberglass blank with a finished wood handle and black rubber butt cap. It is equipped with a Penn Spinfisher 710 green-finished metal spinning reel. The third item is a vintage rod featuring a honey-colored fiberglass blank and a distinctively ring-turned or grooved wood handle with a metal reel seat. The final item is a vintage rod with a light-colored blank, possibly early fiberglass, and a similar grooved wood handle. The Pflueger rod is marked on the blank Pflueger Trion GX IM-6 Graphite. The associated reel spool is marked Trion GX. The Penn reel features a brass-toned medallion on the housing marked Penn Reel 710 Spinfisher with a central fish icon. The remaining vintage rods are unsigned. Largest: 78″ L.
Condition report:
The Pflueger combo shows signs of heavy use with staining on the cork and significant accumulations of dust, grime, and fibrous debris on the reel body and bail. The Penn reel shows surface grime, pitting, and paint loss to the green finish, while its wood handle displays wear to the varnish. The two unsigned vintage rods show significant age-related wear, including finish loss and staining on the wood handles, heavy oxidation and surface corrosion on the metal reel seats, and green verdigris on the rod tip guides. The light-colored blank shows areas of peeling finish and discoloration.
