Description

Mastro de Paja briar tobacco pipe and a calabash-style tobacco pipe, housed in a commemorative wooden display case. The first pipe is constructed from briar with a rusticated dark brown finish on the bowl and shank, contrasting with a smooth, polished rim. The stem is black acrylic and features a circular brass-tone inlay. The second pipe (unsigned) is a curved gourd-shaped calabash, likely meerschaum, featuring a light tan body, a smooth white cap, and a black stem with a white dot inlay. Both pipes are fitted with silver-plated bands at the junction of the shank and stem. The polished burl wood veneer display case features a glass-paneled door and a silver-plated commemorative plaque on the lower front. The rusticated pipe is marked with an adhesive paper label reading Mastro de Paja and CERTIFICATO DI GARANZIA TOTALE on one side, with the serial number 01510046 and handwritten OB-35c on the verso. The display case plaque is inscribed Mastro De Paja T. A. A. Seconda Edizione 1995-1996. The circular, wooden pipe stand is not included. 6" x 2" x 2 1/2" and 7 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"

Condition report:

The silver-plated bands on both pipes show visible surface oxidation and discoloration. The green textured pouch shows significant surface flaking and loss to the material. The wooden display case and both pipes appear otherwise to be in good condition with no visible cracks or chips.
