A Nepalese sacred gorget or neckpiece to be placed around a statue or deity. Verse written in Sanskrit on verso ending with a lotus flower. Metal neckpiece with horned beast breathing smoke, attached on a hanging pendant a representation of Maitreya or future Buddha in the form of a bodhisattva or enlightened follower. Remnants of vermilion powder in the relief. Two fabric string ties. 9 1/2" L x 9" W.
