Description
This silver-plated serving dish and cover is designed in the Georgian style and features a high-domed lid surmounted by a figural lion finial. The exterior of the lid is decorated with an engraved armorial crest. The set includes a matching round footed tray with a gadrooned and foliate-scroll border, equipped with two handles containing carved bone-colored insulators and a thumb-screw port for a hot water reservoir. The tray is supported by four lion-mask cabriole feet. Accompanying documentation from F. Gorevic and Son, Inc. identifies the piece as The Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Trophy, won by the champion racehorse English Channel on October 7, 2006. 16″ H x 24″ W x 20.5″ D. Location: 2D
Condition report:
The item is in fair condition, exhibiting heavy overall tarnish throughout. There is substantial silver plating loss and wear exposing the base metal, particularly on the interior of the tray and around the lower base. The surface shows scratches, scuffing, and scattered pitting. The carved handle insulators exhibit discoloration and staining.
