September Uncurated: Art, Furnishings, and Estate Discoveries
Lot 96:
Description
Richard Segalman (American, 1934-2021). Pastel on paper depicting the sunlit entrance of an adobe-style structure. The artist employs a soft-focus impressionist style to contrast the warm, earthy tones of the terracotta walls with the deep, cool shadows within the doorway glass panels. Touches of green and blue in the foreground indicate sparse vegetation at the base of the building. The work is signed Segalman in the lower right corner. It is mounted within a wide white mat and housed in a modern silver-toned metal frame under glass. Sight: 10 x 7 inches. Frame: 20 x 16 inches.
Bin 333
Condition report:
The pastel is in good condition with well-preserved pigment and no visible foxing. The silver-toned frame shows minor surface scuffing. The reverse backing board displays several circular brown stains resulting from adhesive toning or past moisture contact.
