Description
G. Woolworth Colton’s New Map of New York City, Brooklyn, Jersey City, Hoboken Etc., published by G.W. & C.B. Colton at 172 William St., New York. This hand-colored engraved map bears a copyright date of 1865. The map depicts Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and Hoboken, with an inset map showing the upper part of New York City and Westchester County. Wards and districts are delineated with original hand-coloring in pink, green, and yellow. The map is double-sided and framed with glass on the reverse to display the original accompanying atlas text pages titled The State of New Jersey and The State of New York—No. III. Sight: 25.5 x 16 in. Framed: 27.5 x 18 in.

Condition report:
The map exhibits light toning consistent with age and contains an original vertical center fold. Significant foxing is visible throughout the paper. A horizontal stain is evident across the Hudson River and sections of Brooklyn. The hand-coloring remains relatively bright. The atlas text on the reverse shows toning and minor surface grime. The frame shows minor signs of handling and surface wear.
