Description
J. Clark (United States, ca. 1858-1902). Oil on board, maritime scene depicting a group of three-masted sailing vessels navigating choppy, deep-blue waters under a clouded sky. The painting is signed J. Clark in paint in the lower left corner. It is housed in an ornate gilt-wood frame featuring scrolling foliate motifs and a wide, plain gold-toned inner slip. Sight: 8 x 17.5 inches. Frame: 16 x 26 inches.

Condition report:
The painting is in overall good condition with a light layer of surface grime and some yellowing to the varnish. No significant paint loss, flaking, or major craquelure is noted.
