Description
A Japanese bronze candlestick table lamp. The base is constructed of dark-patinated bronze featuring a tall columnar shaft decorated with tiered registers of traditional Chinese-style motifs, including geometric diaper patterns, archaic scrolls, and Shou characters symbolizing longevity. The base terminates in a tripod form with three feet cast as monster masks. The lamp is fitted with a white milk glass torchiere bowl shade featuring an all-over pressed waffle texture. The electrical hardware consists of a tall bronze-finished metal socket with a turn-key switch and a three-screw gallery to secure the glass shade. A brown electrical cord is attached for power. Height: 33 inches.
Location: 26A
Condition report:
The bronze base shows light dust accumulation and traces of green verdigris within the recessed areas of the casting. The metal socket assembly exhibits scattered surface oxidation and light wear consistent with age and use. The milk glass shade is intact without visible chips or cracks. Tested and working.
