Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Conversation Piece. Group of set model pieces, figurines used in the set model, backdrop and ground plan. 11 set model pieces, mixed media with gouache, cardboard, wood, metal and other materials, door / windows, door and tables and chairs; group of mostly porcelain figurines repainted by Tony Walton for use in the set model, a gouache backdrop on illustration board, and a ground plan for the Barbizon Plaza stage with United Scenic Artists stamp. Door with windows 5 1/2"H. All as is and in production used condition, model pieces with loose or missing pieces, figurines with chips and cracks, ground plan with staining. Created by Tony Walton for the off-Broadway production of Noel Coward’s Conversation Piece, Barbizon Plaza Theatre, New York, 1957. This was Tony Walton’s first scenic design job in New York and came shortly after he was admitted into the United Scenic Artists union.
