Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Shelter. 3 portfolios of set and costume design artwork and papers. Portfolio 1: 30+ collages and other printed images and with 3 folders of additional collage pieces, 2 pencil sketches of set designs, and 2 copies of sketches, 3 Shelter window card posters designed by Tony Walton. Portfolio 2: folder containing handwritten and typed notes and other papers related to the production, rough sketches for the poster design and sets. Portfolio 3: 20 pieces original costume design artwork, including 4 costume palettes in gouache on black paper, and 16 costume design sketches for various characters in mixed media with collage and gouache on black paper. Costume sketches 16 3/8" x 7 3/8". All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of Shelter, John Golden Theatre, 1973. Tony Walton won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design for Shelter in 1973.
