Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Golden Boy. Grouping of original artwork, copies, notes and other papers. 6 pieces original artwork in various mediums, including ink and watercolor and an additional 39 small ink sketches for projections; 14 printed negatives for backdrop projections, most with hand coloring and Tony Walton’s handwritten notations on verso; and 4 additional sets of printed backdrop projections. With Tony Walton’s handwritten and typed notes for projections, remnants and scenic breakdowns and an envelope of copies of reference photos of boxers; and a black and white photo of the Golden Boy Majestic Theatre marquee. All as is and in production used condition. Created and compiled by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of Golden Boy, Majestic Theatre, 1964-1966; as well as the touring production. Golden Boy was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1965.
