Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). The Apple Tree. Group of original artwork for the "Come Back, Go Away, I Love You" title design. 9 acetate sheets with hand painted lettering and an additional acetate sheet with a partial figure; 5 sketches of figures, various mediums including pencil, ink and gouache on paper and tracing paper; a collage of the figures and an additional gouache of a single figure; 3 mixed media posters in various states, and a negative copy of the same image. With 2 The Apple Tree window card posters, designed by Richard Williams. Come Back Go Away poster gouache 21" x 12 3/4". All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of The Apple Tree, Sam S. Shubert Theatre, 1966-1967. Tony Walton was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Costume Design for The Apple Tree in 1967, and the show was nominated for Best Musical the same year.
