Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Woman of the Year. 2 portfolios of set design and production materials, including original artwork, prints, photos, notes and other papers. Portfolio 1: 8 TV Screen Images, collage mounted on illustration board, and 34 additional negatives, Early Bird collage 12" x 15"; folder of 15+ prints and collages for Tess’ studio screen layouts; 50+ photos and negatives, mostly of Lauren Bacall, many by Martha Swope. Portfolio 2: fabric swatches, 30 reference photos, and 5 manila folders containing rough sketches, typed and handwritten notes and other papers. All as is and in production used condition. Created and compiled by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of Woman of the Year, Palace Theatre, 1981-1983. Lauren Bacall won the Tony Award in 1981 for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in WOTY, and the show was nominated for Best Musical the same year.
