Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Where’s Charley?. 3 portfolios containing set and costume design artwork, scripts, posters, programs. Portfolio 1: ephemera including 5 Where’s Charley posters, including 1 signed by various cast members; 19 postcard mailers, 3 programs and 14 copies of Goodspeed’s Curtain! magazine featuring an interview with Tony Walton; with two typed copies of the script. Portfolio 2: 20+ original set design sketches, brown pencil on tracing paper, with 20+ copies of the same images; gouache on paper paint elevation, reference / research materials; photos, 16 show scrim prints, 25+ costume design prints. Portfolio 3: 15 original set design sketches, mostly pencil on tracing paper; 12 set design prints, many with hand coloring in gouache; 16 copies of set design sketches. Ceiling Layouts sketch 14 3/4" x 11". All as is and with wear, bumped corners, creases. Created by Tony Walton for the regional theater production of Where’s Charley?, Goodspeed Opera House, East Haddam, Connecticut, 2004. Tony Walton designed the sets and costumes for the show, as well as directing, and working on the adaptation.
