Description
Native American painted hide garment, attributed to North American Plains. Central bib decorated with lane-stitch beadwork, and neckline trimmed with red wool. Hide treated with blue-green wash and decorated with painted motifs. Fringes throughout, including horsehair locks secured with metal wraps. 34" top to bottom, 34" across. Hide is cracked and brittle along edges. Fading and yellowing throughout. Stiffening and creasing throughout. Fraying and occasional loss throughout hide fringes and horsehair. Minor bead loss.
