Pop Culture Time Capsule: TV Memorabilia & Vintage Toys
Lot 55:
Description
This collection consists of seven vintage lunchboxes and four matching insulated thermos bottles produced by leading manufacturers Aladdin Industries and Thermos. The assortment represents a broad cross-section of American pop culture from the early 1970s through the early 1990s. The lithographed tin group includes "Emergency!" (1973, Aladdin), "Howdy Doody" (Aladdin), "Walt Disney’s World on Ice" (1980, Aladdin), and two examples of "The Dukes of Hazzard" (1980, Aladdin). The molded plastic group includes "The World of Teddy Ruxpin" (1986, Thermos) and "Beverly Hills 90210" (1991, Thermos). Four coordinating thermos bottles are included: one Disney Mickey Mouse, two distinct "Dukes of Hazzard" variants featuring the General Lee, and one "Beverly Hills 90210" bottle. The tin boxes feature full-color lithography on all sides, while the plastic models utilize applied decorative decals. Several pieces contain handwritten provenance, with names such as "Desiree LeVar" and "Jamie Buley" inscribed on the interior lids in permanent marker. Each box measures approximately 9.5 inches by 10 inches.
Condition: The collection is in used, vintage condition. The metal lunchboxes exhibit typical signs of age including surface scratches, paint loss at the edges, and varying degrees of oxidation and pitting on the interior surfaces and metal latches. The plastic boxes show external scuffing, minor discoloration, and some bubbling or peeling of the adhesive decals. The thermos bottles show light wear to the graphics but remain structurally sound. Three of the seven lunchboxes are missing their original thermos bottles. All handles and latches are present and functional.
Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. We have our own in-house shipping program. Please request in-house shipping, if needed.
