Description
Vintage Voice Control Astronaut Base, Style #738, manufactured by Remco in 1969 during the height of the American space race. The construction consists of a lithographed cardboard play base and various plastic structures. The set features an electro-phone communication system powered by a Japanese motor, intended to play the included audio record so the user can listen to astronaut and mission control conversations through a tube-connected earphone. Not tested. The set includes a headset with a metal frame, a small audio record, and various plastic accessory pieces. 14.5″ H x 19.5″ W x 7.5″ D.
Condition report:
The set is housed in its original color-illustrated cardboard box, which exhibits age-related wear including creasing, edge scuffing, and surface marks. The interior contents appear partially assembled. A paper instruction sheet printed in Spanish is included but is heavily damaged and torn. Some small plastic accessories remain in a plastic bag. The mechanical working order and the absolute completeness of the set have not been determined. Requires one \"D\" battery for operation (not included).
