Lot 180:
Description
American molded copper eagle on a display stand, designed as a weathervane topper. Constructed with hollow-formed copper sheets. Surface exhibits a weathered verdigris patina with significant remains of original gilding throughout. 39″ H x 43″ W x 20″ D.
Condition report:
The piece shows significant signs of age and outdoor exposure. Notable condition issues include a prominent vertical split to the neck and a separation at the left wing-to-body join. Several large dents are present on the lower hemisphere of the copper ball. General oxidation and wear to the gilded surface are consistent with the verdigris patina.
