Description
Primitive American folk art butter churn with a tall cylindrical body reinforced by four wooden withe hoops. The hoops are crafted from bent saplings and bound with fiber cordage. The wood displays a rich, dark patina and natural grain character. The churn is presented without its lid or dasher. 38 1/2″ H x 15″ diameter.
Condition report:
Visible condition includes several prominent vertical seasoning cracks in the wood. The surface shows wear consistent with age, including scattered staining, scuffs, and a darkened patina. Withes show some drying and minor splits. The unit is incomplete, lacking the original lid and dasher.
