Description
French Empire commode with a removable stone top and five drawers. Case constructed from fruitwood with ebonized borders and brass stringing. Corner blocks of the frieze decorated with inlaid brass stars on each side. 36″ H x 51″ W x 23 1/2″ D.
Condition report:
There are notable vertical shrinkage cracks to both the left and right side panels. The smallest center drawer is missing its brass escutcheon. Visible scuffing, nicks, and finish loss are present along the base rails and on the legs. The brass hardware shows a natural aged patina. Minor scratches and surface wear are present on the wood and stone top. One leg ferrule shows significant oxidation and verdigris.
