Description
Eight vintage and antique mechanical and tin-lithograph toys. The group includes two tin-lithograph items marked with the J. Chein & Co., USA shield: a clown head mechanical bank with a press-lever base and a drummer boy figure. Also included is a tin and cast metal toy featuring two frogs positioned on a yellow four-wheeled cart. The set features five plush-covered wind-up animals: a large monkey with cymbals wearing striped pants and an orange vest, a smaller monkey with a drum and cymbals featuring Disney Mickey and Minnie Mouse lithographed characters, a stalking lion, a begging dog balancing a spinning ball, and a white dog with a striped ball marked Made in Korea. Multiple items feature integrated wind-up keys or protruding metal mechanical components. Largest item 10 1/2″ H x 7″ W x 6″ D.
Condition report:
Tin-lithograph surfaces show varying degrees of paint loss, surface scratching, and significant oxidation or light rusting, particularly on the frog cart and the clown bank. Plush fabric on several toys, including the monkeys and lion, shows wear, thinning, and staining. Metal components such as cymbals and drum rims show tarnishing and pitting.
