Description

British Admiralty Pattern 301 style staghorn knife-pistol combination tool, named to J. H. L. Rowan. Manufactured in the late 19th to early 20th century by Harrison Brothers of Sheffield. The design incorporates the primary features of the Admiralty Pattern 301 jack knife, including a single-edged, folding carbon steel sheepfoot blade and stag horn scales. This specialized variant features an integrated small-caliber, single-shot barrel mounted along the back of the handle. The firearm component utilizes a spring-loaded bolt-action firing mechanism operated by a round, side-mounted trigger button. The blade tang is marked Harrison Brothers, and the blade face is engraved “J.H.L. Rowan.” 9″ L, open.

Condition report:

Steel components show light surface oxidation and scattered pitting, particularly on the blade and barrel. Stag horn scales are structurally sound with no significant chips or cracks, showing natural color variation and wear from handling. Folding blade retains a firm action, and the spring-loaded firing bolt remains under tension. Copper lanyard ring is intact. Engraved name on the blade face remains clear and legible.
