Description
Victorian Admiral Fitzroy style mercurial stick barometer by J. T. Barry of Cardiff in a carved oak case. The dial includes detailed meteorological observations and instructions in the style popularized by Admiral Robert Fitzroy. A secondary mercury thermometer is inset into the middle section of the case, featuring Fahrenheit and Centigrade scales on a white backing. The dial is printed with the maker name J. T. Barry, Cardiff. 43 1/2″ H x 7 1/4″ W x 3 1/2″ D.

Condition report:
The oak case displays a vertical split centered above the arched glass of the main dial. The dial glass contains a prominent crack at the bottom left corner. General surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age are present. Mercury is visible within the tube; however, the working status and accuracy of the barometer and thermometer have not been tested.
