Description
A Japanese woodblock print (ukiyo-e) by Toyohara Kunichika depicting the famous Kabuki actor Onoe Kikugoro V. The actor is shown in a dynamic mie pose, dressed in a layered orange and blue kimono featuring large paulownia leaf patterns and intricate geometric motifs. He holds a blue scroll in his left hand and a bundle of folded papers in his right. The background is left plain, accented by vertical columns of Japanese text. The upper right corner identifies the actor as Onoe Kikugoro. The left side is signed Toyohara Kunichika ga with a red Toshidama seal. At the bottom center, a circular censor seal and a rectangular publisher seal for Kawaguchiya Shozo (Kawasho) are present. The work is executed in ink and color on paper.

Condition report:
Fair condition. The print exhibits significant age-related foxing and prominent brown water staining throughout the composition, particularly in the upper and lower background areas. A visible horizontal handling crease runs through the center. The paper shows overall toning and some minor edge wear. The reverse displays orange adhesive residue and staining from old tape along the upper margin.
