Description

This original Japanese woodblock print (ukiyo-e) by the artist Utagawa Kunimaru depicts a seated woman in a black kimono with large floral patterns. She is shown leaning toward a low table supporting tied scrolls and a decorative box, set against a background featuring cherry blossoms and stylized blue waves. The work bears the signature of Utagawa Kunimaru within a red-bordered rectangular cartouche in the lower right corner. Adjacent to the signature are the publisher mark for Kinsendo and two circular censor seals. The print is executed on handmade paper and is unframed.

Condition report:

The print exhibits significant age-related condition issues. There is heavy overall toning and yellowing of the paper. Multiple prominent horizontal and vertical handling creases are visible throughout the sheet. Scattered foxing and small dark stains are present. The left edge appears roughly trimmed with minor fraying and losses.
