Description
Meissen Four Seasons porcelain mantel clock and six-light candelabra garniture set. The clock case is adorned with hand-modeled floral encrustations and hand-painted sprays. It is surmounted by four polychrome putti representing the seasons. The matching candelabra feature scrolling arms decorated with conforming floral motifs and additional seasonal putti at the base pedestals. Each candelabrum has a central nozzle and five scrolling outer arms. The clock displays a white enamel dial with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic minute markers set within a gilded bezel. The porcelain bodies are finished with molded scrolls and gilded highlights. Marked on the underside with an underglaze blue mark. The brass clock movement is stamped 2882. Clock: 21 1/2″ H x 11 1/2″ W x 11 1/2″ D.
Condition report:
One putto figure on a candelabrum base has a significant area of surface loss on the back of the torso exposing the white porcelain body. There are numerous small chips and losses to the delicate hand-modeled flower petals and leaves throughout all three pieces. The gilded highlights show minor surface wear. Firing and vent holes are present in the porcelain body. The bases exhibit typical shelf wear and minor discoloration. The clock movement is untested and mechanical condition is not guaranteed.
