Description
Gilt bronze mounted porcelain pedestal with a white onyx top. The porcelain body features two hand-painted reserve panels, one of which is signed C. Rochette at the base. The primary panel depicts a classical female figure with a putto among clouds and flowers, while the opposing panel displays a musical trophy with a quiver, wind instruments, sheet music, and floral garlands. The porcelain ground is finished in cobalt blue with raised gilt foliate scrolls, lattice motifs, and masks. A circular white onyx top with natural veining is secured within a gilt bronze laurel-leaf rim. The pedestal rests on a cast gilt bronze base with four acanthus-leaf scrolled feet. 37 1/2″ H x 11 1/2″ W x 11 1/2″ D.
Condition report:
The porcelain reserve panels exhibit fine, age-appropriate crazing throughout. There is minor rubbing and shelf wear to the gilding, primarily on the raised edges and mounts. The white onyx top shows several small chips and surface pits near the perimeter. The gilt bronze mounts exhibit typical patination and minor oxidation consistent with age.
