Francesco Guardi (Italian, 1712-1793). Oil on canvas, capriccio in the style of the 19th-century Venetian school. Hidden signature F. Guardi in lower left. Sight: 16 x 19.5 in. Frame: 23 x 26.5 in.
Condition report:
The painting displays extensive fine craquelure across the entire surface. Ultraviolet light examination reveals significant areas of dark fluorescence, indicating historical restoration and overpainting, particularly within the sky and the central foreground figures. A small puncture and associated paint loss are present in the upper central sky region. The canvas has been relined.
