Description
Louis XV style side or occasional table featuring an oval Portoro marble top. The marble is characterized by a black ground with prominent gold, buff, and white veining. The carved hardwood base features a dark walnut-tone finish. Four S-curved legs are joined by a shaped X-stretcher. Each leg is intricately carved in the form of a stylized dolphin or sea monster with a scaled body and a detailed head at the base. The legs terminate in flattened, molded bun feet. The serpentine apron is decorated with foliate and shell-motif carvings. 19″ H x 26″ W x 20″ D.
Condition report:
Overall good condition consistent with age and use. Minor scuffs, scratches, and small dings are present on the wood finish, particularly concentrated on the lower legs and feet. A small reddish-purple mark is visible on one of the bun feet. A slight separation is present at a construction joint in the carved apron. The Portoro marble top is intact with natural veining and displays minor surface wear and light scratches from use.
