Description

A pair of 20th-century French Louis XV revival style end tables or nightstands. Each table features a shaped breccia marble top in shades of terracotta, cream, and white. The wooden cases are decorated with figured veneers in a chevron parquetry pattern on the drawer fronts and side panels. The bombe-form design contains two drawers constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints. Ornate cast metal mounts with a bronze-tone finish include foliate espagnolettes at the knees, a central decorative apron mount, drop-ring drawer pulls, and sabot feet. The tables are supported by slender cabriole legs. 29.25″ H x 16″ W x 11.5″ D.

Condition report:

The tables show signs of age-related wear and distress. Several cast metal drawer pulls are slightly loose, and there is visible finish wear and wood exposure behind the pull backplates. Multiple small chips and losses to the veneer are present along the lower shaped aprons and side panel edges. A vertical split is visible in the veneer on one front apron. The lower portions of the cabriole legs exhibit extensive scuffing, scratches, and finish loss. The marble tops are in good overall condition with natural veining and no significant cracks or repairs.
