Lot 141:
Description
A pair of armchairs in the Louis XVI revival style featuring caned seats and backs. The frames are constructed from hardwood with a warm reddish-brown finish. Each chair back is centered with an inset oval wooden medallion, hand-painted with a floral arrangement on a dark ground. The design includes down-curved armrests supported by straight, turned, and fluted front legs, while the rear legs feature a gentle saber curve. Each chair comes with a removable, tufted seat cushion in a taupe fabric, finished with golden-toned fringe and decorative corner tassels. 35″ H x 21″ W x 19″ D. Seat height 20″ H.
Condition report:
The chairs are in good condition overall. The caning on both the seats and the backs is taut and intact with no visible breaks or sagging. The hand-painted floral medallions are well-preserved with clear detail. The wood finish shows minor surface wear, including small nicks and light scuffs consistent with age and use, particularly around the feet. The removable cushions and tassels are clean and present.
