Description
Group of three Japanese woodblocks including one landscape postcard. The two larger prints are by Kochi-ro Kunisada (Utagawa Kunisada I, 1786–1865) and bear the signature Kochi-ro Kunisada ga. The third, smaller print is a postcard-format woodblock by Kawase Hasui (1883–1957) depicting the torii gate at the Meiji Shrine. This print bears a circular red Hasui seal in the lower-right corner. Largest sheet 11 1/4 x 7 3/4 inches.
Condition report:
All three prints show general toning and handling creases. The two larger prints by Kochi-ro Kunisada exhibit scattered pin-sized paper losses and small wormholes, most notably in the lower and interior sections of the paper. The Kawase Hasui postcard shows a minor tear on the bottom edge and slight wear along the margins.
