August Uncurated Summer Auction
Lot 193:
Sold for: $100
Description
This 1972 screenprint by Pierre Clerk features a bold geometric abstraction in the artist’s signature hard-edge style. The composition is formed by interlocking wide bands of black and dark charcoal grey against a white field, creating a sense of dynamic, layered architectural space. The work is an artist’s proof, designated AP in pencil at the lower left and hand-signed Clerk 72 in pencil at the lower right. The print is currently unframed.
40 x 40 inches.
Condition report:
Overall condition is good. The paper shows light toning throughout. Minor handling creases and soft bumping are present along the edges. Small smudges are visible in the white margins. The reverse of the sheet has several spots of adhesive tape residue from a previous mounting.
