Description
Man Ray (American, 1890-1976). Collection of 10 pieces documenting the 1976 exhibition of work by Man Ray at Igal M. Atelier in New York. The grouping includes several exhibition posters on a variety of papers, including metallic silver, yellow, and white stock. A primary highlight of the collection is a black and white self-portrait print mounted on board, pencil-signed by the artist in the lower right margin. Complementing the finished prints are several production items, including a metal printing plate mounted on a wood block, film transparency negatives of the self-portrait, and an envelope with other small pieces from the production process. Printing plate 7 x 5.5 inches. Signed print 9.75 x 9.25 inches. Largest posters 26.5 x 20 inches. Location: CR Drawer 3
Condition report:
Overall condition is good with signs of handling and age. The paper components exhibit minor edge creasing and light toning, particularly at the margins. The fabric element shows some minor fraying at the corners. The metal printing plate and film transparency appear well-preserved with no significant damage.
