Description
A matched pair of German-manufactured side cabinets designed as mirrored left and right units. Each piece is constructed with one squared side and one radiused side featuring three open shelves. The design includes two side-by-side drawers above a central double-door cupboard. The exterior displays French Provincial style elements, including recessed door panels with foliate carvings, a scalloped apron centered by a shell and leaf motif, and short cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Construction materials include walnut or fruitwood with modern plywood back panels. Hardware consists of brass bail handles on the drawers, decorative brass escutcheons, and long brass door strike plates. The interior strike plate is stamped GERMANY. 35″ H x 43.5″ W x 17″ D.
Condition report:
This pair shows a notable discrepancy in finish color; one cabinet has a light honey-oak tone while the other is finished in a dark brown. The lighter cabinet has a large, prominent area of finish loss and surface gouging on the top. Both cabinets exhibit scattered scuffs, scratches, and small chips to the finish, particularly along the top edges and the radiused shelves. The interior cabinets are missing their shelves.
