Description

This lot consists of two Victorian-era dresser items. The first is a three-panel folding triptych mirror with a gilded metal frame designed in the Rococo-revival style. The two exterior folding panels are inset with hand-painted floral still-life oil paintings on canvas depicting roses, tulips, and other garden flowers. The frame is further decorated with small blue and white enameled floral accents and a reticulated lattice crest at the top. The center panel is a mirror, and the bottom edge of the frame is stamped with the characters PAT D AUG 7 1877. A gilded metal hanging chain is attached to the top. The second article is a square-bodied clear glass scent bottle encased in an ornate gilded metal cage featuring repousse floral and scrollwork motifs. One side of the bottle houses an oval hand-painted miniature portrait of a lady in 18th-century attire wearing a wide-brimmed hat. The bottle includes a faceted clear glass stopper with a tapered ground shank. Mirror: 11″ H x 12.5″ W x 1″ D. Scent Bottle: 7″ H x 3″ W x 3″ D. Location: 7C
